We are checking your location to calculate today's twilight phases.

Civil Twilight

Civil twilight happens when the Sun is less than 6 degrees below the horizon. It is the brightest twilight phase and the most familiar one to everyday outdoor activity.

Nautical Twilight

Nautical twilight begins once the Sun is 6 to 12 degrees below the horizon. The horizon is still faintly visible while brighter stars and planets become easier to use for orientation.

Astronomical Twilight

Astronomical twilight covers the range from 12 to 18 degrees below the horizon. This is the phase astronomers watch closely because true night begins after astronomical dusk.
